History
Gabriella Falk was trained as a designer for the theatre and worked
in this field designing sets and costumes for a number of years.
Her work ranged from the West End to alternative theatre along with
several major regional theatres.
Having taught for some years in Further and Higher Education Gabriella
then acquired a conventional teaching qualification which has enabled
her also to work in schools. She remains involved in education through
artists residencies.
From the 1980's Gabriella developed her practice in fine art textiles
and established a reputation as a tapestry weaver. She has since
expanded her practice to take in other fields and is particularly
interested in developing her design work with architectural glass.
In 1993 Gabriella began working as a Public Art Consultant and
now spends part of her time in this field and part on her own creative
work.
Gabriella has been Lead Artist/Public Art Consultant on a number
of building projects involving collaboration with architects, landscape
designers and local authorities.
From time to time she also curates exhibitions and has been involved
in a number of artist led initiatives such as South West Textile
Group and Somerset Art Weeks.
She was co-curator of "Footsteps", a national touring
exhibition 2004-6.
